Tragedy struck in Meriden on Sunday morning when a woman lost her life in a car crash. The accident occurred at approximately 3:29 a.m. on Main Street in South Meriden, involving two white Acura vehicles. One of the cars attempted to turn left into a driveway at 133 Main St, while the other drove up from behind and collided with the driver’s side door. The driver of the vehicle that was hit, Denisse Acosta, aged 53 and a resident of Meriden, was trapped in her car until firefighters from the Meriden Fire Department were able to free her. Despite being rushed to the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away. The other driver involved in the incident, Jonathan Reyes, aged 31 and also from Meriden, was not hurt.
The Meriden Police Department is currently investigating the accident and has not released any additional information regarding the cause of the collision.
